Accreditation

Accreditation by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education

 

²ü¶¶Ð¡ÃÛÌÒ is an accredited institution and a member of the (MSCHE), Skidmore's accreditation status is . The commission's most recent action on the institution's accreditation status on June 23, 2016, was to reaffirm accrediation. 

MSCHE is an institutional accrediting agency recognized by the U. S. Secretary of Education to conduct accreditation activities for institutions of higher education including distance, correspondence education, and direct assessment programs offered at those institutions. The Commission's geographic area of accrediting activities is throughout the United States. 


2025-26 Reaccreditation timeline

  • Fall 2023: Skidmore representatives attended the MSCHE Self-Study Institute
  • Winter 2023-2024: Steering Committee established
  • Spring 2024: Working groups will be established and Self-Study design completed
  • 2024-2025 Academic Year: Campus Community engaged in development of Self-Study as facilitated by the working groups.
  • Summer 2025: Draft Self-Study
  • Fall 2025: Campus feedback collected and incorporated into Self-Study 
  • Spring 2026: Middle States Evaluation Team campus visit

Additional Accreditation 

In addition to institutional accreditation by MSCHE, the following programs at Skidmore are accredited through national accrediting bodies:

AAQEP Logo²ü¶¶Ð¡ÃÛÌÒ is a member in good standing of the , a national accrediting organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The program listed below has been awarded full accreditation by AAQEP through December 31, 2029. Accreditation acknowledges that a program prepares effective educators who continue to grow as professionals and has demonstrated the commitment and capacity to maintain quality.

Bachelor of Science, Education Studies

The (CSWE) is a national association that preserves and enhances the quality of social work education for practice and promotes the goals of individual and community well-being and social justice. CSWE pursues this mission through setting and maintaining policy and program standards in social work education programs, accrediting bachelor's and master's degree programs in social work, promoting research and faculty development, and advocating for social work education. ²ü¶¶Ð¡ÃÛÌÒ's Social Work Department has been fully accredited by CSWE since 1983. For more information on the CSWE's Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards, please see the official guidelines. The CSWE website is a useful resource for information on accredited graduate programs, which typically allow Skidmore BSW students to enter a one-year MSW program.
